The Maid’s Hands

Clink, clink, clink.

I watch her through the rising steam of my cup of chai.

She brings the pestle down again and again onto the small, round, red hot peppers being doomed to the destiny of powdery flakiness in the mortar. She sits on the floor, the gold bangles on her dark wrists gleaming in the midday sun streaming in through one of the kitchen windows. Continue reading

First World Parenting – Part 1

My husband and I are Canadians of Pakistani origin and have lived most of our lives in Canada. However, we still have extended families back home so this past December, after almost a decade, we decided to make things interesting and book a 14 hour flight with a flu-stricken child that took us half way around the globe to the land of tandoori chicken, chai, and at least half a million relatives. Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge

When I am not mommy-ing, accounting or writing, I am photographing. My camera is my first baby and I have a trough of digital images that I have seldom shared so this week when I stumbled onto a photography blog (Cee’s photography: https://ceenphotography.com/cees-challenges/fun-foto-challenge/) that posts weekly photo challenges, I thought why not?
